Planting trees

Green-fingered pupils at a school in Chesham helped to raise awareness of environmental issues by planting trees. Pupils from Waterside School planted the trees, which had been provided for them through a scheme run by the Woodland Trust, in the grounds of the school. Louise Batty, a governor at the school, said: “It was fantastic that so many children volunteered to take part and that they had so much fun planting the trees. “The children have told me they hope the trees provide shade during the summer for pupils in the future and also create a wind break for the chilly winter gales during PE lessons.

“A massive thank you is owed to all the staff, governors, parents and other volunteers who supported the pupils with this venture.”
